PREMILLENNIALISM
There are many people who do not realize what an important subject the 'millennium' is in the thinking of all premillennialists. For example, John F. Wolvoord wrote; "Though Millennial truth is very essentially eschatogical, it is integral to the entire volume of Scripture and its proper understanding is an important essential to theology as a whole. Millennialism cannot therefore be brushed aside as a dispute on the interpretation of Revelation 20, but it is rather the product of a system of biblical interpretation established as the positive teaching of both Testaments." (The Millennial Kingdom, pg 263)
It is the growing realization that premillennialism is more than a dispute about Revelation 20 that has precipitated the extended hot arguments on the issues in our day. For the first time in seems to be commonly recognized that premillennial theology has become a system of theology, not an alternate view of eschatology which is unrelated to theology as a whole.
It is also related to the very practical question of war. Is it our duty to back with financial and military aid, and with our soldiers if necessary, the nation of Israel as a part of our duty to God???? Are Christians duty bound to defend by word and by deed this nation composed of a vast majority of secular Jews, many of whom do not even believe in the God of the Old Covenant, not to speak of their unbelief in Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God?
Mike Evans, President of Lovers of Israel, Inc. is a premillennialist who says God will judge us as we treat Israel. (Israel- America's Key to Survival, Plainfield, New Jersey; Logos International, 1981, p.212) The unqualified support of Israel increasingly creates antagonism in the Arab world, against those who give this unqualified support and also being in opposition to our Lord Jesus Christ, if they identify Christianity as tied to the unqualified support of Israel.
Premillennialism teaches that Christ failed to do what He came to do in connection with His first advent, but they assure us He will get it right in connection with His second advent. Pre-Mills also speak of the grace of God, but there would not have been a Christ dying on the cross for our sins if Christ had been successful, as they say, in His establishing the Kingdom while He was here on earth, as predicted by Old Covenant prophets, that is if they are right. But to the contrary, Jesus did both die on the old rugged cross and in the process He did establish His Kingdom on the first Pentecost after His resurrection from the dead. He is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, not some day will be! Jesus is... King, Priest, Savior, Prophet, Christ, Lord, God,
His death on the cross proved to the world then as well as now that He wears the Crown on Authority after having worn the crown of thorns. He won the Crown, by the way of the cross!.... Praise God in the Highest!
